Federal Executive Council; Kinchela Boy’s Home Aboriginal Corporation;
On Thursday 13 June 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator received the NSW Minister for Citizenship and Communities and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, the Honourable Victor Dominello MP, and representatives of the Kinchela Boys’ Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC), for discussions on ‘OCHRE: The KBHAC Business Plan and The New South Wales Government Plan for Aboriginal affairs: education, employment and accountability.’
Earlier, at the Australian War Memorial, London, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Head of Australian Defence Staff, Brigadier William Sowry AM CSC, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath in memory of those who lost their lives during World War I and World War II.
Afterwards, at Stoke Lodge, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Defence Chief of Staff, Commander Richard Donnelly RAN, attended a reception with Australian Defence Force personnel working in the United Kingdom.
In the afternoon, at Sissinghurst, Kent, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the granddaughter of Ms Vita Sackville-West and Mr Harold Nicolson, Ms Juliet Nicolson, viewed the grounds and later hosted a lunch. Guests included: Mr Phil Aiken AM and Mrs Fran Aiken; Dame Valerie Beral and Professor Paul Fine; Mr Bill Muirhead and Mrs Jeanne Muirhead; and the Honourable Mike Rann CNZM and Ms Sasha Carruozzo.
