Federal Executive Council; Royal United Services Institute lecture; ???Priceless Gift of Opportunity' Appeal; Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company; Australian College of Kuwait

On Thursday 24 February 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

In the afternoon, at Defence Plaza, Sydney, the Administrator attended a Royal United Services Institute lecture by Brigadier Wayne Budd CSC on ‘Australian Defence Force operations in Afghanistan’.

In the evening, at Fleet Base East, Sydney, the Administrator, as guest of the Chief Executive Officer of The Infants’ Home, Ms Anita Kumar, launched the ‘Priceless Gift of Opportunity’ Appeal.

Earlier, in Kuwait City, Kuwait, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Salah Al-Kulaib, and the Head of International Sales and Marketing for Graincorp, Mr Chris Whitwell, visited the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company.

Afterwards, at the Bayan Palace, Kuwait, the Governor-General received Members of Parliament: Dr Rola Dashti MP, Dr Aseel Al-Awadhi MP, Dr Masouma Al-Mubarak MP and Dr Salwa Al-Jassar MP.

In the afternoon, in Kuwait City, Kuwait, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the President, Professor Vishy Karri, visited the Australian College of Kuwait.

In the evening, at the official residence of the Australian Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, His Excellency Mr Glenn Miles, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception for Australian embassy staff, and members of the Australian expatriate and business community.

Earlier, at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney, the Governor-General was represented at the Prayer for Christchurch Service by Colonel Allan Murray CSM ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
