Federal Executive Council; Visit to the United Kingdom

On Friday 1 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, in Glasgow, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association, met with the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Perry Crosswhite AM, and Mrs Janice Crosswhite OAM.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Federal Police Senior Liaison Officer, Detective Super Intendant Kieren Miller, and the Commander of Gold Headquarters, Assistant Chief Constable Steve Allen, visited the Glasgow Police Incident Control Unit Headquarters and Multi Agency Control Centre to meet embedded Australian Federal Police Officers.

Then, at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Women’s Hockey Semi Final between Australia and South Africa.

Afterwards, at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Artistic Gymnastics competition.

In the evening, at Hampden Park Stadium, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the Commonwealth Games Athletics competition.

Later, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Divavesi Waqa MP, by Colonel Dennis Scanlan CSM RFD ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
