Federal Executive Council; Wattle Day; London Paralympics

On Thursday 30 August 2012, at Government House, Canberra the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Administrator received the Vice-President and Founder of the Wattle Day Association, Mr Jack Fahy, and the Treasurer of the Wattle Day Association, Ms Judy Tunningley, and later accepted a basket of wattle from students of Burgmann Anglican School in recognition of Wattle Day.

In the afternoon, at the Paralympic Velodrome, London, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Mr Stephen Loader, attended track cycling events, where the Governor-General presented medals at the Victory Medal Ceremony for the Women’s Individual C4 Pursuit.

Afterwards, at the Aquatics Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Mr Glenn Tasker and Mrs Henny Tasker, attended swimming events.

Later, at the Basketball Arena, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Ms Joyce Parszos, attended the Men’s Wheelchair Basketball.
