Foodbank Victoria visit; Barwon Child, Youth and Family Café Meals Program; The Salvation Army Northside Geelong visit; Multicultural Aged Care Services opening
On Friday 16 October 2015, in Yarraville, Melbourne, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair, Foodbank Victoria, Ms Dorothy Coombe and CEO, Mr David McNamara, visited the Foodbank Victoria warehouse and met with staff and volunteers, in recognition of Anti-Poverty Week.
Afterwards, at the Courthouse Café in Geelong, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Barwon Child, Youth and Family, Mr John Frame, participated in the Café Meals program and met with staff, clients and members of the Youth Advisory Group.
Later, in Corio, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, The Salvation Army Northside Geelong, Major Gloria Eldridge, visited The Salvation Army Northside Geelong Community Centre, at which the Governor-General presented the Partner Awards and met with members and community partners.
Then, in North Geelong, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Multicultural Aged Care Services, Mr Jordan Mavros OAM and the CEO, Mrs Joy Leggo, visited the facility, at which the Governor-General officially opened the Annie O’Malley House and Piazza.
