On Friday, 17 August 2007, at Yarralumla ACT, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended Yarralumla Primary School's 50th Birthday Assembly, at which the Governor-General addressed the students, teachers and guests.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General hosted to luncheon: the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Councillor John So; the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Hobart, Alderman Rob Valentine; the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Perth, Dr Peter Nattrass; and the Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Darwin, Alderman Garry Lambert. Other guests were: Ms Amelia Bitsis; Ms Michelle Coffey; Mrs Vanessa Crimmins; Mr Kevin Louey; Mr Allan McGill; Ms Jude Munro; Mr David Pitchford LVO; Mr Greg Spall; and Ms Deborah Stanley. Later, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Turkey, Mr Peter Doyle.
