On Friday 21 May 2010, at the Great Hall of The University of Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Faculty of Law graduation ceremony, at which the Governor-General was conferred with a Doctor of Laws (honoris causa).

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a lunch hosted in their honour by the Chancellor of The University of Sydney, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO. In the evening, at Admiralty House, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted to dinner: Ms Jane Diplock AO and Mr Phillip Meyer; Professor Edward McWhinney and Mrs Emilly McWhinney; and Professor Gillian Triggs and Mr Alan Brown.
