On Friday, 22 June 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Right Reverend Dr Peter Hollingworth AC OBE.

Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Jalil Abbas Jilani, Letters of Commission accrediting him as High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Tanveer A. Khaskheli (Deputy High Commissioner); and Brigadier Imran Malik (Defence Adviser), Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery also received Mrs Shaista Jilani. Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Dr Andeab Ghebremeskel, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the State of Eritrea. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Beshir Idriss Nour Omer (Consul) and Mr Mekonnen Neguissie Asgedom (Second Secretary), Embassy of the State of Eritrea. Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery hosted to lunch: the High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Mrs Shaista Jilani; the Ambassador of the State of Eritrea; Ms Gillian Bird; Ms Catherine Boomer; Mr Michael Costello, AO and Ms Christine Wallace; Professor David Coventry and Mrs Margaret Coventry; Mr Bill Davy and Mrs Dimity Davy; Ms Lyndall McLean, AM; Mr David Palmer; Ms Virginia Sarah; Mr Ken Ticehurst, MP and Mrs Trisha Ticehurst; and Dr Ted Wolfe. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery received the Ambassador of The Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Mr Frank Carruet and Mrs Christine Carruet-Manigart. In the evening, the Governor-General, as Prior of the Order of St John of Jerusalem in Australia, and Mrs Jeffery hosted a reception for members of the Order attending the St John Ambulance Australia National Conference.
