On Friday 25 May 2007, at Doonside Public School, Doonside and Horsley Park Public School, Horsley Park, New South Wales, Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as Joint Patrons of Role Models for Books in Homes Australia, attended assemblies and presented books to students.

Later, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General received Mr Craig Ashby, Resource Development Officer, National Aboriginal Sport Corporation Australia and Mr Andrew Penfold, Chairman, St Joseph's College Indigenous Fund. In the evening, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Australian Veterans' Children Assistance Trust, and Mrs Jeffery hosted a reception at which the Governor-General presented Trust Awards.
