On Friday 28 March 2008, at Sydney City, the Governor-General His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, as a guest of the Chairman of Energy Australia, Mr John Conde AO and the Manager Engineering Development, Mr Phil McKee, toured the Sydney Electricity Tunnel.

Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General received the Chairman of the Official Establishments Trust, Mr Richard Griffin AM, accompanied by Mr Peter Watts. In the evening, at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush Bay NSW, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of the Angus Society of Australia, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially launched the book The Story of Angus in Australia.
