On Friday 30 November 2007, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery received the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable John Howard MP, and Mrs Janette Howard.

Earlier, the Governor-General, received from His Excellency Mr Takaaki Kojima, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the Ambassador of Japan. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Masami Kinefuchi (Minister); Mr Ando Toshihide (Counsellor); and Captain Kazushige Nagai (Defence Attache), Embassy of Japan. The Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery also received Mrs Tomoko Kojima. Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Mpumelelo Joseph Ndumiso Hlophe, Letters of Commission accrediting him as High Commissioner for The Kingdom of Swaziland. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Peggy Mamba (Administrative Attache), High Commission of Swaziland. The Governor-General and Mrs??Jeffery also received Mrs Phyllis Hlophe. Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Peeter Miller, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia. Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted to lunch: the Ambassador of Japan and Mrs??Kojima; the High Commissioner for The Kingdom of Swaziland and Mrs Hlophe; the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia; Mrs Svea-Reet Bergman; Professor Jenny Corbett and Mr Andrew Schuller; Adjunct Professor Mike Gore AM And Mrs Joyce Gore; Mr Mitchell Hooke and Mrs Sarah Hooke; Mr Raivo Kalamae; Mr Brett Matich; Mr John McFarlane and Mrs Margaret McFarlane; Mr Tony McGee and Mrs Alana McGee; Ms??Lyndall McLean AM; Mr Charles Millward and Mrs Anne Millward; Mr Scott Mitchell; Mr?? Brian Moore; Adjunct Professor Margo Neale and Mr Bruce Neale; Sir Arvi Parbo AC; Mr Peter Baxter; and Dr Malle Tohver-Tinni. In the evening the Governor-General was represented at Brisbane International Airport at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Ludwig Scotty, MP, by Group Captain Brian S. Duddington, AM, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
