On Friday 6 March 2009, at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Minister for Climate Change and Water, Senator the Honourable Penny Wong, attended the annual Adelaide UNIFEM International Women's Day breakfast.

In the afternoon, at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the Momentum Women's Forum International Women's Day Luncheon in support of the Women's Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address. Earlier, at Defence Establishment Fairbairn, Canberra, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Lee Myung-bak, by Mr Mark Fraser OAM, Deputy Official Secretary to the Governor-General.
