On Friday 7 May 2010, at Our Lady Help of Christians School, Hendra, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE participated in National Walk Safely to School Day.

Afterwards, at the Queensland College of Art, Brisbane, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chancellor, Ms Leneen Forde AC, and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ian O'Connor, attended Griffith University's Annual Honorary Doctorate Lunch. Later, at Spring Hill, Brisbane, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the new St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital.
