On Friday 19 May 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Dr Helene Bender AM, Chair, The Order of Australia Association (Victoria Branch), attended the official opening of The Order of Australia Association’s national conference.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Geelong, Victoria, to King Island, Tasmania.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Cr Marcus Blackie, Mayor, King Island Council, and Mrs Narelle Blackie.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Blackie, attended a civic reception where they met with community representatives at the King Island Council Chambers.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley visited and met with staff and customers at the King Island Dairy Company.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Blackie, met with community members of King Island at the Currie Harbour Boathouse.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as joint Patrons and guests of Ms Val Southam, Chief Executive Officer, Keep Australia Beautiful, attended the Keep Australia Beautiful National Sustainable Communities Tidy Town Awards.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from King Island, Tasmania, to Geelong, Victoria.
