On Friday 7 June 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Dan Simmonds, Chair, Committee for Geelong, attended a morning tea and met with participants of the Leaders for Geelong program, at Deakin University's Geelong Campus.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr John Stanhope AM, Chancellor, and Professor Jane den Hollander AO, Vice-Chancellor, met with staff and researchers, at Deakin University's Geelong Waterfront Campus.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Councillor Peter Murrihy, Acting Mayor, attended a civic reception hosted by the City of Greater Geelong Council, at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Dr David Young, Chairman, visited the Les Twentyman Foundation, at Penfold House Footscray, Victoria.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Peggy O'Neal, President of the Richmond Football Club, attended an Australian Football League game between Richmond Football Club and Geelong Football Club, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
