General Sir John Monash commemorative service; Farewell dinner for the Socceroos

On Thursday 22 May 2014, at Knox Grammar School, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Spirit of Australia Foundation, Mr Wesley Browne OAM, attended the General Sir John Monash commemorative service at which the Governor-General, as Patron, delivered the keynote speech.

In the evening, at the Sydney Opera House, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Football Federation Australia, Mr Frank Lowy AC, attended a farewell dinner for the Socceroos prior to their departure for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
