Governor-General 3rd International Symposium on Sustainable Ironmaking; Official Visit to Port Vila, Vanuatu; Meeting with the Acting President of the Republic of Vanuatu and Speaker of Vanuatu's Parliament; Vanuatu Women's Centre; Reception hosted by High Commissioner to the Republic of Vanuatu Administrator Presentation of the ANZAC of the Year Award; 2010 Asia and South-West Pacific Region Reserve Capability Forum reception
On Thursday 29 July 2010, at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the 3rd International Symposium on Sustainable Ironmaking.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed Australia to represent the Government and people of Australia at the 30th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Vanuatu.
Earlier, in Sydney, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.
Afterwards, at the Chief Secretary’s Building, Sydney, the Administrator received Director of the Edinburgh Festival, Mr Jonathon Mills.
Later, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE received the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Baroness Valerie Amos, and the British Consul-General, Mr Richard Morris.
Then, the Administrator presented the ANZAC of the Year Award to Sergeant Susan Turner.
In the evening, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas hosted a reception for participants in the 2010 Asia and South-West Pacific Region Reserve Capability Forum.
Earlier, at Vanuatu State House, Port Vila, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the Acting President of the Republic of Vanuatu and Speaker of Vanuatu’s Parliament, The Honourable George Wells.
Afterwards, at the Vanuatu Women’s Centre, Port Vila, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Co-ordinator, Ms Merilyn Tahi, met with staff and volunteers.
In the evening, at the residence of the High Commissioner to the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Mr Pablo Kang, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception.
