Governor-General arrives in New Zealand for State Visit

On the first day of her State Visit to New Zealand at the invitation of the Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae and Lady Janine Mateparae, the Governor-General spent the day in Auckland. Ms Bryce discussed Australia and New Zealand trade and business links with the Trans-Tasman Business Circle.

The Governor-General and Mr Bryce travelled to outer Auckland to the Finlayson Park School to learn about a project which parents undertake to help their children prepare for school.

School students welcomed Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce with a special haka, song and dance, before discussions with students who had undertaken the HIPPY program before meeting the children in the Maori immersion program.

An introduction to Pacific Islands academics and community leaders took place at the Fale Pasifika malae (traditional Pacific meeting house) at the University of Auckland, where the Governor-General was joined by Sir Jerry and Lady Janine Mateparae.
