Governor-General joins celebrations for Australian Volunteers International's 60th anniversary

The Governor-General joined former volunteers, Heads of Mission and staff from Australian Volunteers International to celebrate the organisation’s 60th anniversary at the Hyatt Hotel, Canberra.

Marking the occasion as Patron of AVI’s Lawyers Beyond Borders, Ms Bryce was joined by the Hon. Mr Michael Kirby AC CMG, AVI Board Chair, His Honour Justice Richard Refshauge SC, and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Argentina, His Excellency Mr Pedro Raul Villagra Delgado, in recognising the important work done by the organisation.

Returned AVI volunteer, Mr Michael Galluzzo, also spoke of his experience in assisting a community in India, as well as the importance of promoting Indigenous Australians’ involvement in overseas volunteering.
