Governor-General visits Laidley and Grantham

The Governor-General met Laidley residents cleaning up after recent extensive flooding damaged businesses and residential properties in the town.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Councillor Steve Jones, escorted Ms Bryce through the main street to meet business owners, their employees and volunteers involved in the recovery efforts. The Governor-General later visited teachers, parents and students from St Mary’s Primary School, which was inundated during the flood.

Later, the Governor-General made her fourth visit to Grantham since the 2011 floods, and spent time with the residents affected by the most recent flooding.
