Governor-General visits the Solomon Islands
The Governor-General concluded her visit to eight neighbouring Pacific countries in eight days, arriving in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Ms Bryce received a Ceremonial Challenge by Solomon Island warriors before inspecting a Guard of Honour at Henderson International Airport in Honiara.
The Governor-General called on the Governor-General of the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Kabui, before travelling to Parliament House, where she addressed hundreds of Solomon Island women at the ‘Stori Weitem Olketa Meri’ Women’s Leadership Forum.
Ms Bryce later launched WARA financial literacy booklets with WARA founder Dr Alice Pollard. The booklets aim to assist and empower women with information about financial management.
Later, the Governor-General met Australian Federal Police, Defence personnel and civilians working as part of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) at the RAMSI headquarters in the Guadalcanal Beach Resort.
