Governor-General's Investiture; Departure of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh from Canberra; Credentials; State Dinner in Honour of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
On Wednesday 26 October 2011, at Government House, Canberra, Her Majesty The Queen was pleased to confer the honour of Commander of the Royal Victorian Order on the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, farewelled Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on their departure from Government House.
Afterwards, at the Vice-Chancellery, University of Western Australia, Perth, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Dr Charles Murigande, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Michael Roux (Honorary Consul of Rwanda in Australia).
Later, the Governor-General received the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
Then, the Governor-General received Australian High Commissioner to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr Philip Kentwell.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar MP. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Honourable Dr Surujrattan Rambachan MP (Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications) and the Honourable Stephen Cadiz MP (Minister of Trade and Industry).
In the evening, at St George’s College, University of Western Australia, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received the Australian High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Ian McConville.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr Goodluck E. Jonathan GCFR BNER GCON and Dame Patience Jonathan. The President was accompanied by the Honourable Olugbenga Ashiru (Minister for Foreign Affairs), the Honourable Musa Mohammed Sada (Minister for Mines and Steel Development), and Ambassador Hassan Tukur (Principal Secretary to the President).
Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a state dinner in honour of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Dame Patience.
