On Wednesday 23 May 2018, at Noi Bay International Airport, Hanoi, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, were welcomed to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam by His Excellency Mr Craig Chittick, Ambassador to Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Mr Mai Phouc Dung, Chief of Protocol, Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received a briefing from Mr Chittick.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with Australians and embassy staff working in Vietnam at the Ambassador’s Residence, Hanoi.

Earlier, following the departure of the Governor-General from Australia on an Official Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.
