On Tuesday 4 April 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley attended wreath laying ceremonies at the Monument of National Heroes and Martyrs, and at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a Welcome Ceremony, in honour of their State Visit to Vietnam, at the Presidential Palace of Vietnam.

Then, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Vo Van Thuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Later, Mrs Hurley visited the Hanoi Adelaide School and met with members of the Diversity Choir.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Andrew Goledzinowski, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, attended a lunch and a presentation ceremony for long-serving staff at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi.

Afterwards, the Governor-General visited the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations Training Centre, and met with returned Vietnamese peacekeepers from South Sudan deployments.

Then, Mrs Hurley visited and met with staff from the Vietnam Women’s Museum (VWM).

Later, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Vuong Dinh Hue, President of the National Assembly.

Afterwards, Mrs Hurley visited and met with staff of the Hanoi National Academy of Music.

Then, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Later, Mrs Hurley visited the Hanoi markets.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a State Banquet in recognition of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Vietnam.
