HMAS Cairns; Arrival of Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall; Royal Flying Doctors Service; Stockman’s Hall of Fame

On Monday 5 November 2012, at HMAS Cairns, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Commanding Officer, Commander Wendy Bullen ADC CSM RAN, received an operational briefing and met with the Armidale Class Patrol Boat crews of Ardent 3, Ardent 5 and Ardent 6, and the Survey Coast Ship HMAS Shepparton.

Afterwards, at Longreach Airport, the Governor-General welcomed Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on the occasion of their visit to Australia to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Later, at the QANTAS Founders Museum, the Governor-General, as National Patron of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, hosted Their Royal Highnesses at a reception at which The Prince of Wales unveiled an aircraft in recognition of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Friends in the United Kingdom.

Then, at the Stockman’s Hall of Fame, as guest of the Chairman, Mr David Brook OAM, the Governor-General accompanied Their Royal Highnesses on a tour of the collection and a viewing of a whip cracking demonstration.

Afterwards, at the Cattlemen’s Bar and Grill, the Governor-General met with community members at a barbecue co-hosted by the Governor and Premier of Queensland in recognition of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
