On Friday 21 October 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, and Professor Don Chalmers AO, attended breakfast at Government House Tasmania.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, travelled from Hobart to Deloraine, Tasmania.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Wayne Johnston, Mayor of Meander Valley Council, met with Deloraine residents and businesses impacted by recent flooding.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Johnston, attended a community lunch with flood affected residents and representatives of response agencies in Meander.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Deloraine to Launceston, Tasmania.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Pierre Comis, Chief Executive Officer, attended the closing ceremony and a reception to celebrate the 12th Special Olympics.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Launceston, Tasmania to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
