Honiara, Solomon Islands

On Thursday 29 June 2017, at Government House, Honiara, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Governor-General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Kabui GSMG CSI OBE and Her Excellency Lady Kabui.

Afterwards, at the Australian High Commissioner’s Residence, Honiara, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Mr Roderick Brazier, attended a reception with staff working in Solomon Islands.

Later, at Solomon Islands National University (SINU), Honiara, the Governor-General as guest of the Chair of SINU Council, the Honourable Dr Culwick Togamana MP, visited the Australian Skills for Economic Growth Program and met with staff and students from the Australia Pacific Technical College hospitality faculty.

In the afternoon, at the Central Honiara Police Station, the Governor-General as guest of the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, the Honourable Manasseh Sogavare MP, attended the unveiling of the RAMSI monument.

Afterwards, at the National Museum, Honiara, the Governor-General as guest of RAMSI Special Coordinator, Mr Quinton Devlin, visited the permanent exhibition on RAMSI.

Later, at Lawson Tama Stadium, Honiara, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the RAMSI official closing ceremony, at which the Governor-General, on behalf of the contributing Pacific nations to RAMSI, delivered an address.

In the evening, at the Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel, Honiara, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove together with Pacific Islands Forum leaders, attended an official RAMSI farewell dinner.
