International Day of Mourning Commemorative Service; Australian War Memorial; University of Oxford; Australian Rhodes Scholars and academics; Australian Music Foundation

On Thursday 28 April 2011, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received the Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr Biravij Suwanpradhes.

Afterwards, the Administrator received from Link-Up NSW Aboriginal Corporation, Chief Executive Officer, Ms Glendra Stubbs, and Ms Madison Shakespeare.

Later, the Administrator received the Commanding Officer of No. 22 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, Wing Commander Veronica Taylor.

In the afternoon, at Reflection Park, Darling Harbour, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended the International Day of Mourning commemorative service for workers who have lost their lives in the workplace.

Afterwards, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator received the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Duan Jielong.

Earlier, at the Australian War Memorial, London, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at Christ Church College, Oxford, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Professor of Epidemiology, Dame Valerie Beral AC DBE, met with University of Oxford luminaries.

In the afternoon, at Rhodes House, Oxford, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Warden of Rhodes House, Mr Don Markwell, attended a lunch with Australian Rhodes Scholars and academics.

Later, at Australia House, London, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the International Director of the Australian Music Foundation, Ms Heather de Haes, attended a reception and concert for the Australian Music Foundation.

In the evening, at Lancaster House, London, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, the Right Honourable William Hague MP, and the Minister for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Right Honourable Lord Howell of Guildford, attended a dinner hosted for Realm Governors-General, Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers.
