Investiture Ceremony for Mr Akio Mimura
On Tuesday 9 October 2012, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested the Mr Akio Mimura with the insignia of Honorary Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia. Guests at the ceremony included: Mrs Yoshiko Mimura; Chairman of Nomura Holding, Mr Nobuyuki Koga; Chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation, Mr Yorihiko Kojima; the Australian Ambassador to Japan, Mr Bruce Miller; President of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation Australia, Mr Yoshifumi Nakata; President of Nomura Australia, Mr Hiroyuki Nishikawa; Managing Director of Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Yoshihiro Okabe; and the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Mr Shigekazu Sato.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received the resignation of the Honourable Mr Peter Slipper MP as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a dinner.
