On Tuesday 21 January 2020, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, received a briefing from His Excellency Mr Chris Cannan, Ambassador to the State of Israel, and Mr Mark Bailey, Australian Representative, Ramallah.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley traveled from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, Israel.

In Tel Aviv, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Omri Wislizki, Manager, visited the Austrade Landing Pad and received a briefing on the role of the facility in supporting the Australia-Israel innovation relationship. During the visit, Their Excellencies also met with members of Landing Pad start-ups, including myInterview; Square Peg Capital, and edete.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received a briefing on innovative fire-fighting techniques from representatives of Elbit Systems at the Landing Pad.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Chemi Peres, Chair, visited the Peres Centre for Peace and Innovation in Tel Aviv.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Jerusalem where they met with His Excellency the Honourable Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel, at the President’s Residence.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ambassador Cannan, attended a reception for the Australian-Israeli community.
