Kabul, Afghanistan

On Saturday 30 April 2016, in Kabul, Afghanistan, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) met with Australian Defence Force personnel based at Kabul International Airport.

Afterwards, at the Sapedar Palace, the Governor-General met with Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Abdullah Abdullah.

Later, at the Presidential Palace, the Governor-General met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency Dr Ashraf Ghani.

Then, at Headquarters Resolute Support, the Governor-General received an operational briefing from Commander Resolute Support, Lieutenant General Sandy Storrie, and then laid a wreath for those who gave their lives in the name of peace and prosperity in Afghanistan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General had afternoon tea with Australian Defence Force personnel and Australian Embassy staff.

In the evening, at Camp Grant, the Governor-General attended a barbeque with Australian Defence Force personnel.
