King Island visit; Official opening of the Cape Wickham Lighthouse in its sesquicentenary year

On Saturday 5 November 2011, on King Island, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Manager, Mr Andy Summers, visited the King Island Dairy Fromagerie.

Afterwards, at the Clemons’ Property, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of owners Mr Jamie and Mrs Liz Clemons, attended a lunch with former lighthouse keepers’ descendants.

Later, at ‘Wongaru’, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of owners Mr Robbie and Mrs Linda Payne, visited a beef and sheep farm.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of King Island, Councillor Greg Barratt, attended a community reception at the Cape Wickham Lighthouse in its sesquicentenary year, at which the Governor-General officially opened the Lighthouse.
