On Wednesday 19 October 2016, at Tasmania Zoo, Launceston, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Owner, Mr Richard Warren, viewed the facilities and received a briefing on operations and conservation operations.

Afterwards, at Scotch Oakburn College Junior School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Mr Andy Müller, visited classrooms and met with students, staff and guests.

Later, at Launceston Civic Square, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Coordinator of Children and Community Programs, Anglicare, Ms Sharon Dutton, viewed the Anti-Poverty Week 2016 Speak Up Challenge exhibit and met with student contributors from Invermay Primary School.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of State Secretary of St Vincent de Paul Society Australia, Mr Bernard Saunders, assisted with the Anti-Poverty Week Vinnies BBQ and met with members of the community.

Afterwards, at the New Horizons Club, Launceston, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Ms Belinda Kitto, met with staff, volunteers, clients and their families.

Later, at the University of Tasmania, Launceston, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the General Manager, Mr Phil Leersen, visited the Australian Maritime College, received a brief on the facilities and met with researchers and staff.

Then, at the Enterprize pop-up space, Launceston, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Founder of Start-up Tasmania, Mr James Riggall, received a briefing on the project and met with entrepreneurs.

Afterwards, at Launceston Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Mr Malcolm White, met with staff and volunteers.
