Lunch with Australian Embassy staff; Wat Phu Takian Kindergarten; Hellfire Pass Museum; Reception for veterans and former Prisoners of War

On Sunday 24 April 2011, at the residence of the Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, His Excellency Mr James Wise, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended an Easter Sunday lunch with Australian Embassy staff and their families.

In the afternoon, at Kanchanaburi, Thailand, the Governor-General attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General opened the Austcham community services project at the Wat Phu Takian Kindergarten.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of the Manager, Mr Bill Slape, visited the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum.

Later, the Governor-General visited Hellfire Pass with former prisoners of war; Mr Alexander Arthurson, Mr William Schmitt AM, the Honourable Thomas Uren AO and Mr Cyril Gilbert OAM.

In the evening, at the Home Phu Toey Resort, Bangkok, the Governor-General, as guest of the Proprietor, Mr Khun Kanit Wannachote OAM, attended a reception for veterans and former Prisoners of War.
