On Tuesday 24 May 2016, at the Park Hyatt Hotel, Melbourne, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove attended a Lifeline Australia fundraising lunch, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address.

Afterwards, at Melbourne City Town Hall, the Governor-General, as Senior Patron, The Royal Humane Society of Australasia, and Lady Cosgrove attended a presentation ceremony, at which the Governor-General awarded the 2015 Stanhope Gold Medal to Mr Murray Barnewall.

Later, at the Regent Theatre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair, Eastern Health, Dr Joanna Flynn AM, attended the Searchlight Dinner for the reestablishment of the Vivian Bullwinkel Professorial Chair, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address.
