On Saturday 1 February 2020, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Melbourne, Victoria.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Jim McCluskey AO, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Ms Andrea Fischer, Executive Officer, Doherty Institute, and visited the Doherty Institute at the University of Melbourne.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Jayne Hrdlicka, Chair, Tennis Australia, attended the Australian Open dinner and pre-match function at the Rod Laver Arena.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Hrdlicka, attended the Australian Open Women's Singles Final.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
