On Monday 10 December 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery hosted a reception for 2007 Graduands of the Australian Defence Force Academy, and the Royal Military College - Duntroon. Afterwards, at the Residence of the Swedish Ambassador, Yarralumla, Their Excellencies attended a dinner in honour of the Australian Nobel Laureates hosted by the Swedish Ambassador, Her Excellency Mrs Karin Ehnbom-Palmquist.
