On Monday, 11 June 2007, in Maitland, NSW, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, as guest of the Mayor of Maitland City Council, Councillor Peter Blackmore, visited members of the local community affected by the recent floods and thanked those involved in the relief efforts.

Afterwards, at HMAS COONAWARRA, Darwin, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, viewed naval exercises in Beagle Gulf on board HMAS ALBANY, an ARMIDALE Class Patrol Boat, hosted by the Commander Northern Command, Air Commodore Ian Meyn, and the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Andrew Garven RAN.
