On Monday, 16 July 2007, at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO officially opened the 21st International Congress for Heterocyclic Chemistry.

Later, at St Mark's Anglican Church, Darling Point the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie attended a Service of Thanksgiving for the life of the late Lady Vincent (Nancy) Fairfax, OBE. In the afternoon, at Admiralty House, Sydney the Administrator received the Australian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Ian Kemish, AM. Afterwards, Her Excellency received the Head of the APEC 2007 Task Force, Mr??Alan Henderson,PSM, accompanied by the Senior Venue Co-ordinator, Mr Martin Puddey.
