On Monday 19 April 2010, at Parliament House, Perth, the Administrator His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC officiated at the opening of the refurbished Legislative Council Chamber.

Afterwards, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Principal, Ms Annette Wilson, visited the Australian International School. In the evening, at the Hotel Marina, Dubai, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of honour, attended a reception for Australians hosted by the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Doug Trappett, and the Western Australian State Government Office in the United Arab Emirates.
