On Monday 28 June 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the Affirmation of Office to the newly appointed Minister for Trade, the Honourable Stephen Smith MP; and the Oaths of Office to the newly appointed Minister for Education, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Minister for Social Inclusion, the Honourable Simon Crean MP; and the Minister for Sustainable Population, the Honourable Anthony Burke MP.

Earlier, the Governor-General received the Minister for Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Her Excellency Madame Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, His Excellency Mr Hoang Vinh Thanh.

Afterwards, Mr Bryce, hosted a morning tea for the Canberra & District Historical Society and officially launched the book ‘Lairds, Lads & Larrikins: an early history of the Limestone Plains’ by Mr David Meyers.

In the afternoon, at the Embassy of the Republic of Finland, Canberra, Mr Bryce attended a reception hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland, Her Excellency Mrs Maija Lahteenmaki, and Dr Nestor Vargas Gomez.
