On Monday 30 March 2009, in Nairobi, Republic of Kenya, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE as guests of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olive Mugenda, visited Kenyatta University and attended a morning tea with prominent Kenyan women.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Australian Studies Institute (AUSI), a branch of the Edith Cowan University. Later, at the State House, Nairobi, the Governor-General was received by the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency the Honourable Mwai Kibaki. Then, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, Mr Raila Odinga. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce departed the Republic of Kenya on a State Visit to the United Republic of Tanzania.
