On Monday 8 March 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at the Australian National University, Canberra, the Governor-General, in recognition of International Women's Day, attended the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Women's Summit. In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Oath of Office to the newly appointed Minister for Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Water, Senator the Honourable Penny Wong; and the Minister for Environment Protection, Heritage and the Arts, the Honourable Peter Garrett AM MP.
