Morning tea for Australian Community living in the United States of America; Investiture ceremony; Working lunch for Humanitarian affairs and Emergency Relief; Reception for business and institutional leaders

On Tuesday 9 April 2013, at the Harvard Club, New York, the United States of America, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Consul-General, Mr Phillip Scanlan AM, attended a morning tea for the Australian community. Guests included members of: Advance; American Australian Association; Australian Music Foundation; Australians in New York Fashion Foundation; New York Young Leaders; American Friends of the National Gallery of Australia; Australians on Broadway; Australian Women in New York; Serving Military Personnel working in the United Nations; and Australian university students studying in New York.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested Ms Susan Talbot AM with the insignia of the Member of the Order of Australia.

Later, the Governor-General met with the President of New York University, Dr John Sexton.

Then, at the Trump World Tower Building, the Governor-General attended a working lunch hosted by the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Baroness Valerie Amos PC. Guests included: Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund, Ms Yoka Brandt; Permanent Representative of Iceland to the United Nations, Ms Greta Gunnarsdottir; Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund and Assistant Secretary-General, Ms Kate Gilmore; and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms Leila Zerrougui.

Afterwards, at the official residence of the Consul-General, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the ninth President of the World Bank Group, Sir James Wolfensohn KBE AO.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Consul-General, attended a reception for business and institutional leaders.
