National Indigenous Television Channel; Visit to flood affected Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Kempsey; Launch of 100 Voices; Farewell from the Republic of Korea
On Wednesday 27 February 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received the Auditor-General of New South Wales, Mr Peter Achterstraat.
Afterwards, the Administrator met with representatives of the SBS National Indigenous Television Channel to discuss Redfern Jarjum College.
Later, the Administrator, as guest of the Mayor of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Councillor Peter Besseling, viewed flood affected areas of Port Macquarie, Wauchope and the surrounding district.
Then, at the SES Headquarters, Wauchope, the Administrator attended a lunch with SES and RFS volunteers and members of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Afterwards, in Kempsey, the Administrator, as guest of the Mayor of the Kempsey Shire Council, Councillor Liz Campbell, viewed flood affected areas of Kempsey and the surrounding district.
Later, at the SES Headquarters, Kempsey, the Administrator received a briefing on the recent flood and met with SES and RFS volunteers.
In the evening, at Paddington Town Hall, Sydney, the Administrator, as guest of the President of Pride History Group, Mr Lex Watson, launched the oral history project ‘100 Voices,’ on behalf of Sydney’s Pride History Group during Sydney Mardi Gras.
Earlier, at Seongnam Airbase, Seoul, Republic of Korea, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, were farewelled at the completion of their official visit by the Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Mr Sam Gerovich; the Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Bae Jae-hyeon; the Commander of 15th Special Activity Wing, Brigadier-General Hur Chang-ho and the Australian Defence Attaché, Captain Brett Dowsing RAN.
Afterwards, at Guam International Airport, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were welcomed to the United States Territory of Guam by the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Raymond Tenorio.
Later, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Guam, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received a briefing on Australia’s bilateral relationship with Guam by Australia’s Consul General, Mr Martin Quinn.
