On Monday 10 December 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove attended the arrival of the first Joint Strike Fighters as guests of Air Marshal Leo Davies AO, CSC, Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force, at RAAF Base Williamtown.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Allan McKinnon PSM, Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Thailand, for a pre-posting call at Government House, Canberra.

Then, the Governor-General, as Patron and Chief Scout, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted the 2018 Queen’s Scout and Baden-Powell Scout awards ceremony. In the evening, Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a dinner for the 40th anniversary of the Australia-China Council.
