Nukunuku Government Health Centre; Nuku'alofa Government Primary School; Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga; Morning tea and round table discussion; High Commissioner's lunch
On Tuesday 2 August 2011, at Nukunuku, Kingdom of Tonga, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Minister for Health, the Honourable 'Uliti Uata visited the Nukunuku Government Health Centre.
Afterwards, at Nuku'alofa, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Minister for Education, Women’s Affairs and Culture, the Honourable Dr ‘Ana Taufe’ulungaki and accompanied by the King of Tonga, His Majesty King George Tupou V, visited the Nuku'alofa Government Primary School.
Later, at Consular House, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, Lord Tu'ivakano.
Then, at the Residence of the Australian High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Tonga, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a morning tea in recognition of recipients of the Governor-General's Sport Scholarship Awards, members of the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development, volunteers for International Development, and Australian Business Volunteers.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General attended a round table discussion with leaders in the Education, Women's Policy and Civil Society sectors.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a lunch hosted by the Australian High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Tonga, His Excellency Mr Thomas Roth. Also in attendance were the King of Tonga, members of the Royal Family, the Prime Minister and the Minister for Education, Women’s Affairs and Culture.
