Opening of the exhibition ‘The Great War 1914-18: Sacrifice and Shadows’

On Wednesday 27 August 2014, at Government House, Hobart, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Lieutenant-Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Justice Alan Blow OAM and Mrs Margaret Blow.

Afterwards, at Parliament House, Hobart, the Governor-General met with the Premier of Tasmania, the Honourable Will Hodgman MP.

Later, the Governor-General met with the Speaker of the Tasmanian House of Assembly, the Honourable Elise Archer MP; and President of the Tasmanian Legislative Council, the Honourable James Wilkinson MLC.

Then, the Governor-General met with the Tasmanian Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Bryan Green MP.

Afterwards, at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Launceston, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General opened the exhibition ‘The Great War 1914-18: Sacrifice and Shadows’, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the commencement of World War I.
