On Wednesday 27 April 2016, at the Monnair de Paris (French Mint), the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Christophe Beaux, visited and activated the striking machine for the first strike to complete the process of fabricating the first medallion honouring Australian sacrifice in WWI.
Afterwards, at the Australian Embassy, Paris, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to France, His Excellency Mr Stephen Brady AO CVO, viewed the exhibition ‘The Eye and the Hand, Lesueur and Petit, Artists of the Baudin Expedition’ with Director, Natural History Museum of Le Havre, Mr Cédric Crémière.
Later, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove attended an investiture ceremony, at which the Governor-General invested Ms Tina Arena AM with the insignia of the Member of the Order of Australia.
Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ambassador Brady and Mr Peter Stephens, attended a farewell lunch with embassy staff.
Afterwards, at the Movement of French enterprises (MEDEF) headquarters, the Governor-General attended a roundtable discussion with business leaders.
