On Tuesday 26 April 2016, at the Hôtel de Ville (Paris Town Hall), the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove met with the Mayor of Paris, Ms Anne Hidalgo and signed a commemorative parchment.
Afterwards, at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France), the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Ms Laurence Engel, viewed the Louis XIV globes showing New Holland.
Later, at the Musée de la Légion d’Honneur (Legion of Honour Museum), the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Grand Chancellor, General Jean-Louis Georgelin, viewed significant foreign awards.
Then, at the Culture Ministry, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the French Minister for Culture and Communications, Ms Audrey Azoulay, attended the signing of a bilateral archive agreement between France and Australia.
In the evening, at the Elysée Palace, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a meeting with the President of the French Republic, His Excellency Mr François Hollande.
Afterwards, at the Elysée Palace, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of honour of President Hollande, attended a State Dinner.
